【ニュアンス解説】
have been 〜 ing は「〜している状態が続いている」という意味、現在完了進行形のパターンです。今回は疑問文で文末に long を加え「もう長いこと〜しているのですか？」 と尋ねるフレーズになっています。

1. 待ち合わせに遅刻

A. Have you been waiting long?
＜結構待った？＞

B. No, I just got here myself.
＜いや、僕もちょうど来たところ。＞

A. Great. Where do you want to go for lunch?
＜よかった。ランチ、どこへ行きたい？＞

例文2は for a long time で「長きにわたる習慣」というニュアンスになります。

日本には自動販売機 (Vending machines) が溢れています。そのことを外国人の友人に説明してみると、飲み物だけではなく、おしるこ、ラーメン、おでんの自販機まで存在することを知って驚愕！あなたは何の自販機が好きですか？

ポイント

「Overflowing with ／～で溢れている」は何かが溢れるほどあるという意味です。よく液体の説明をする時に使います。会話の中では、自動販売機がたくさんあって、溢れているイメージで使われています。人間、物、感情に関しても使えますよ。
例えば、

my heart is overflowing with happiness.
私の心は幸せで溢れている

となります。

In a small American town, the only vending machines might be seen around the supermarket. But in Japan, they are located almost anywhere. When you take a walk, you can always see them. In spite of this, sometimes it feels like when I finally want to get something from a vending machine, I can’t find one. Is it only me?

日本は本当に便利な国ですね。自動販売機やコンビニの数の多さを見てつくづくそう思います。アメリカの小さい町では、自動販売機はスーパーの中か入り口付近でしか見かけません。でも、日本ではどこにでも自動販売機があります。歩いているとよく見かけますよね。だけど、いざ自動販売機で何かを買いたいと思った時にはなかなか見つけられないんですよね。それって僕だけ？
