《オゥリエンティッ（ドゥ）》

【意味】〜重視の／〜志向の

【ニュアンス解説】
orient は「正しい方向に置く・方向付ける」という意味の動詞ですが、形容詞 -- oriented は「〜重視の」「〜志向の」といった意味になります。
〜の部分には色々な単語をつけて応用できます。

【例文】

1. 家探し

A. The house is absolutely beautiful.
＜家は本当に素敵だよ。＞

B. Too bad it's not in a family-oriented community.
＜ファミリー向けのコミュニティーじゃないのが本当に残念。＞

A. Yeah, tell me about it.

2. 新上司

今回は「結婚」についてです！教会での結婚式か神社での結婚式かによって、雰囲気がガラリと変わりますよね。皆さんはどちらがお好みですか？

A: 兄さんの神前結婚式に来ることが出来てとてもうれしいよ。
B: 僕も。この会場はとてもきれいだね。
A: 兄さんがやっと結婚してホッとしたよ。
B: しかも、僕たちは来日まで出来たしね。
A: あとでお酒を飲めるらしいよ。

ポイント

“Tie the knot”は、結婚するという言い方のひとつです。この表現は昔のバビロニアの習慣から来ています。新郎新婦が結ばれる時、服の糸で結び目を作ったことがその由来です。現在も、このような習慣はいろいろな文化で見られます。
